COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A busboy at Bridgeport Restaurant has been charged with secretly filming a customer inside the women's restroom.

Rigoberto Campos, 32, was arrested Saturday after a 31-year-old woman noticed his cellphone sticking out of a ceiling tile inside the women's bathroom at Bridgeport Restaurant at 3500 S. Halsted St., court records show.

Video recovered from the phone depicts Campos placing the device in the ceiling before leaving the room, Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti said during a bond hearing Monday.

Bridgeport Restaurant did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

According to prosecutors, the 31-year-old customer started to walk toward the women's restroom about 2 p.m. Saturday, but was stopped by Campos, who said he needed to replace the toilet paper.

Campos entered the restroom, Antonietti said, and did not return for "a long time."

When he finally left, the woman was able to enter the room, prosecutors said. As she sat down inside one of the stalls, the woman looked up and spotted Campos' phone sticking out of a ceiling tile.

The customer retrieved the phone, which had been recording her using a video function, and set it to "sleep" mode, Antonietti said. The woman then brought the phone to the restaurant's owner, and police were called.

When officers arrived, Campos allegedly said, "I made a mistake. I don't know what I was thinking," according to an arrest report. He confessed to recording the woman and leaving his phone in the restroom, prosecutors said.

Campos, of the 5400 block of West Diversey Avenue, is currently on probation for a gun conviction, according to prosecutors. In that case, Campos shot his wife in her face when his gun "accidentally" discharged, Antonietti said.

Campos' wife was in court Monday to show her support.

Campos is charged in the new case with unauthorized videotaping. According to court records, he worked at Bridgeport Restaurant as a busboy.

Cook County Judge Peggy Chiampas on Monday set bail at $30,000. As of Monday evening, Campos had not posted bond and was in custody at Cook County Jail.
