AVONDALE — A man ran away after a four-car crash that left a woman dead and a man seriously injured in Avondale Sunday morning, police said.

Around 7 a.m., a white Jaguar ran a red light at the intersection of Kedzie Avenue and Belmont Avenue, beneath an I-94 overpass, and hit a black car with two people inside, according to Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

One of the people in the black car, a woman in her 50s, was brought to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Lemmon said.

The other person, a 64-year-old man, was also brought to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

Two other cars were also struck, and those drivers refused medical treatment, Lemmon said.

The driver of the Jaguar, which had a custom license plate reading "DO OR DI," fled the scene, police said.
