8 Wicker Weekend Events: Do-Division, '606' Block Bash and More

WICKER PARK — With more than 70,000 revelers expected to descend upon the Do-Division Street Fest from 5 p.m. Friday through late Sunday, the annual fest is the biggest thing happening in the 'hood this weekend. But there are so many other options, too.

Here are our eight picks.

Laugh Off the Work Week. "House of Laughs" at Access Chicago Realty's headquarters is a monthly show featuring a rotating roster of talent. Friday's event features Brian DaWiLdcat Smith, Kevin White, Prateek Srivastava and Erik Niewiarowski. Free, 21 and up; RSVP required. From 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday; 2256 W. North Ave.

Score Original Art. It's "First Friday" at Wicker Park's Flat Iron Building, where dozens of artists and visiting artisans will open their studios to collectors and shoppers. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave. Free, with suggested $10 donation.

Enjoy Live Music. With two music stages, dozens of bands and tons of food, merchandise booths and a dedicated Kids and Fashion Fest, Do-Division Street Fest & Sidewalk Sale takes over Division Street between Ashland and Leavitt avenues. Suggested donation $5. Hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Adopt a Puppy. Ask Nagel Realty will host a puppy adoption event with One Tail at a Time on Saturday, during Do-Division Fest, 1919 W. Division St. From noon to 6 p.m.

Celebrate The 606's 1st Year. Chicago's elevated park system connecting four neighborhoods marks its first year on Saturday. Organizers are planning a massive block party with music, crafts and community processions (see full lineup) along the 2.7-mile-long Bloomingdale Trail. Block party HQ are at Humboldt Boulevard between Wabansia and Cortland Avenues; Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Get a Deal on Radical Books. The Chicago Radical Used Book Fair, hosted by the Chicago Socialists, will be selling hundreds of political books including many by Marx, Trotsky, and Luxemburg. Prices will be paperbacks for $2, hard cover $3, and new books for $4.; In These Times, 2040 N. Milwaukee Ave. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Shop at the 1st Wicker Park Farmers Market of the Season. Score fresh veggies, meats, eggs, pastries, pasta, fruit, jam, coffee from Ipseno, bagels fron Brobagel, and fresh crepes made onsite at the weekly Wicker Park Farmers Market, every Sunday in the park. See the full 2016 vendor list. In the park, 1425 N. Damen Ave. Hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Picnic to a Live Concert. Members of Wicker Park Choral Singers, an all-volunteer ensemble dedicated to building community through choral music, will present "Muses in the Park," an hour-long concert featuring songs and hymns. View the full program. In the park, or field house if raining. 1425 N. Damen Ave. Free. From noon to 1 p.m. Sunday.
