LOGAN SQUARE — The team behind the highly-acclaimed Italian restaurant Osteria Langhe is planning to open a second Italian concept in Logan Square this summer.

Animale will be a much more casual restaurant than Osteria Langhe, with customers ordering at a counter.

The restaurant will replace Baocos, which closed after about a year, near the Western Blue Line Stop at 1904 N. Western Ave.

Animale, which the owners describe as being inspired by the characteristics of an animal, "one that feeds itself to survive," will serve a selection of items such as house-made pastas, carbonara panini, arancini, plin and Italian-style burgers.

There will also be something the restaurant is calling Chunky Puppies, that will consist of thick cut fries with bone marrow "savage sauce."

Animale will serve wine, beer and cocktails.

While guests will order at the counter, the cooks will be the servers, presenting food to diners and waiting on them once they are seated.
