LAKEVIEW — Dashcam video released Friday shows a Chicago Police officer firing into a vehicle during a traffic stop in Lakeview.

The video shows the officer firing multiple shots into a vehicle in the 3000 block of North Clybourn in late December.

Giovanni Valle, 20, was accused of trying to strike an officer with the vehicle.

No one in the vehicle was hit by the bullets and the driver was eventually stopped and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault of a police officer with a weapon, fleeing/attempting to elude police and possession of cannabis, according to a Sun-Times report at the time.

Valle was also charged with driving without a license and insurance, according to a police report.

The video depicts an officer conducting a traffic stop on the 1993 Toyota Camry.

Two occupants of the car get out with their hands up and lay on the side of the road.

Shortly after, the driver of the vehicle begins to pull away and the officer fires at least two shots at the car about 2:10 a.m.

The massive release of videos includes many open cases, some of which are the subjects of lawsuits. At a news conference Friday, IPRA boss Sharon Fairley stressed that videos do not paint a complete picture of what happened in each incident, and many lack context.

“It's really important for you to keep in mind that these materials may not convey all of the facts and considerations that are relevant [to an officer's conduct," she said.

The stop begins at the 8:20 mark:
