Garfield Park Shooting Kills Jamaal Bellamy, 35, Police Say

CHICAGO — A shooting in Garfield Park left a 35-year-old man dead Thursday night, police said.

At 10:50 p.m., the man was in the 3400 block of West Flournoy Street when a red car drove up and someone inside fired shots at the man, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in his chest, side and arm, Amezaga said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead.

The man was identified as Jamaal Bellamy, of the 1500 block of West 59th Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Bellamy was pronounced dead at 11:36 p.m. An autopsy showed he died of multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
