14-Year-Old Boy Shot On Violent Night In Englewood

CHICAGO — Englewood shootings just five minutes apart left two people, including a 14-year-old boy, wounded late Wednesday, police said.

• At 11:25 p.m., a 14-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 5600 block of South Laflin Street when he heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The boy was shot in the left leg and he took himself to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Amezaga said.

The boy was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 11:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was in the 6600 block of South Union Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, Amezaga said.

The man was shot in the left leg. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Amezaga said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

No one was in custody in the shootings.
