ANDERSONVILLE — A Peirce Elementary teacher is crowdsourcing $500 to acquire materials so her students can practice their math frequency skills.

The students in room 101 at the school at 1423 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. are in need of math blocks, counters, interlocking cubes, fly swatters, dice, a board game spinner, counting chips and magnetic frames, according to Ms. Shultz's Donors Choose project.

The project, which would help about 27 students, "is to order math manipulatives and materials so that they can play fun and interactive games while still learning new math skills." The materials would be "used through out the year to help them build upon their foundational skills and help them develop new ones," the website said.

As of now, students are limited to only using books provided by the school and games developed by Schultz "using paper, laminating materials, and re-purposed game pieces."

A complete list of the materials asked for is available on the Donors Choose page here.
