UPTOWN — Separate shootings left two men wounded within one block of each other Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, police said.

Around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, a 28-year-old man was walking near the intersection of Leland Avenue and Racine Avenue when he heard gunshots and felt pain, according to Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Illinois Masonic Hospital with a gunshot wound in his eye, Amezaga said. Police could not provide his condition but said he was "stable."

Around 1:20 a.m., a 27-year-old man was walking in the 1300 block of West Leland Avenue when someone got out of a nearby car and shot at him, Amezaga said.

The man was brought to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was "stable" with a gunshot wound in his forearm, police said.

Police did not say whether they believed the shootings were related.

No one is in custody, police said.
