DOWNTOWN — Fido better be ready for his close-up.

Photographer Andrew Grant is coming to Chicago on June 7 and is looking for furry models for his next — and final — edition of "Rover," a series of dog photography books that have helped Grant raise more than $1.3 million for animal shelters, according to a news release.

The photos come with a price tag: Pet owners have to donate at least $5,000 to PAWS Chicago, a Lincoln Park-based shelter, to land their furry friend in the pages of Grant's book.

Those donations help the shelters fund their work, and the "Rover" books also raise awareness of "the importance of spay/neutering, pet adoption and [encouraging] people to check their local rescues first when looking for a new family member," according to Rover.

Pet owners get to choose which photo will appear in the book, or they can sponsor a PAWS Chicago dog's photo shoot. Those pictures will appear in the book and will be used to help the dog get adopted.

Of course, if you're looking for the more affordable option, you can pledge $2,500 as part of a special deal on Kickstarter to have a photo of your pet and one rescue animal featured in the book. Other rewards allow you to have your dog or a rescue animal featured on multiple pages or on a custom cover of "Rover."

Pets do not have to come from shelters to be photographed for "Rover," and Grant will also photograph cats and other animals.

Make an appointment with Grant online or by emailing amanda@roverworks.org.
