ROGERS PARK — Two gang members were arrested on Clark Street after shouting gang slogans and heaving a bottle at a passing car while their group was being questioned by beat officers, police said.

The two were part of a group of seven to 10 young men — police said they were all known Latin King gang members — blocking the sidewalk near Clark Street and Wallen Avenue at 7:15 p.m. May 18, police said.

Two beat officers approached the group and began questioning two of them.

As they were doing so, a car drove up on Clark and two members of the group shouted "King Love!" at the woman inside. One of them then threw a glass bottle at the car, missing it and shattering the bottle in the street, police said.

The beat officers, who were just feet away, grabbed the two and arrested them. One was charged with assault, the other with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, records show.

They were identified in the report as David Navarro, 20 (aggravated assault) and Osvaldo Estrada, 22 (assault).

The woman in the car told police she had never seen the men before and had no idea why they targeted her car.
