EDGEBROOK — A special Memorial Day Mass and ceremony at St. Mary of the Woods will remember and honor those who died in service of the United States, officials said.
Veterans, their families and friends are invited to the Mass that will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at the Edgebrook church, 6955 N. Hiawatha Ave.
Veterans are invited to wear their uniforms or an emblem of the service, organizers said.
Those who wish to remember someone who died in combat may place a photograph or memento of them on the altar, organizers said.
The National Anthem will begin the Mass, and all active-duty and veteran servicemen and women will be asked to stand and salute, organizers said.
Veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart will also participate in the Mass.
