CHICAGO — A 43-year-old man collapsed and died during a 3½-mile race in Grant Park Thursday night, officials said.

Around 7:35 p.m., paramedics arrived in the first block of South Columbus Drive, where the man had gone into cardiac arrest, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was brought to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Pacheco said. He was identified as Cao Bing, of Wilmette, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Bing was pronounced dead at 8:25 p.m. and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The man had been participating in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge, which registered more than 27,000 participants.
