MOUNT GREENWOOD — Turning lanes will be added in both directions on 115th Street at the intersection with Pulaski Road in Mount Greenwood.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said the project would begin Wednesday and also include widening the existing lanes on 115th Street, modernizing the traffic signals and improving drainage and sidewalks at the intersection.

Lanes will be shifted at times through the work zone during construction at the intersection that sits between Chicago and suburban Alsip. And temporary reductions in lane widths will be necessary during the daytime hours, according to a news release from IDOT.

Motorists should expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area. Drivers are also urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment, the release said.

The work is scheduled to be completed in late November.
