BUCKTOWN — A fortress-like home next to the 606's Bloomingdale Trail in Bucktown that offers clear views of its green roof from the elevated trail has sold for $1.16 million, it was announced on Thursday.

Initially listed for $1.395 million in December, the price was reduced to $1.195 in March, according to a Redfin listing.

Realtor Brad Lippitz sold the home at 1800 N. Wolcott Ave. on Thursday to new owners, whom he said were a young family who were attracted to the fact it was "not a typical house."

"The outdoor spaces were natural extensions of the interior. Walled patios [not visible from the sidewalk] are no longer allowed in the city but the home was grandfathered in," Lippitz said.

Lippitz said his clients wanted to downsize.

The 3-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home was bought for $1.23 million in August 2007, county records show.

Realtor Ian Schwartz, who represented the buyers, declined to comment.

Curbed featured the home when hit the market over the winter.

"It's got a very stoic, almost fortress-like look on the outside, but once inside, it's got a natural light-filled, almost airy vibe to it," the real estate site observed.

Currently, there are 16 other single-family homes for sale in Bucktown in an area bounded by Cortland Street and North Avenue to the north and south and Ashland and Damen avenue to the east and west, with four of those home under contract, Lippitz said.

The homes range from $749,900 up to $4.5 million, according to an analysis provided by Lippitz.
