RIVER NORTH — Visit Weinberg/Newton Gallery in 300 W. Superior St. in River North and you will be welcomed by a huge feature image that says in "My Body My Business."
This image is part of the gallery's new exhibition, titled "Your Body is a Battleground." The exhibition features paintings, photography, sculptures and drawings with a message in support of women's rights.
The exhibition, which supports Personal PAC, an Illinois women’s rights Super PAC, includes artwork with bold phrases like "The Motherhood Welcomes Planned Parenthood," "Keep Abortion Legal," and "Put the Words in My Mouth." Artists like Michele Pred, Macon Reed and Dan Paz are featured.
Half the proceeds from the sale of the artwork will go to Personal PAC. The auction and exhibition closes June 9.
The gallery is known for displaying and selling social justice-themed artwork.
