CHICAGO — An off-duty police officer fired shots at a man after the man shot at a group of people in Grand Crossing on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
At 1:27 p.m., the officer was in the 6700 block of South Stony Island Avenue when he saw a man fire shots at a group of three people in a parking lot, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a Chicago Police spokesman. The three people weren't hit and ran away.
The officer returned fire but didn't hit the man, who drove off in a blue minivan, Quaid said.
No one was in custody.
