Four Garage Burglaries Prompt Alert In Auburn Gresham, Washington Heights

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert Wednesday after four garage burglaries this month in Auburn Gresham and Washington Heights.

The burglar or burglars entered garages that were left open or forced their way in and stole tools and yard equipment, according to police.

The burglar or burglars have targeted the area between 87th and 91st Streets, between Marshfield Avenue and Laflin Street — all within Beat 2221 as defined by police in the Morgan Park district, police said.

The specific locations and dates of the burglaries include:

• A pair of garages on Sunday in the 8700 block of south Marshfield Avenue in Auburn Gresham

• A garage May 19th in the 8700 block of south Justine Street in Auburn Gresham

• A garage May 18th in the 9000 block of south Laflin Street in Washington Heights

Police recommend all garage doors are kept closed, and any vehicle within a garage is locked. Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to call the Area South Property Crimes Unit at 312-747-8273.
