CHICAGO — A 37-year-old man was found dead in Humboldt Park on Sunday afternoon of an apparent overdose, police said.

Officers found the unresponsive man at 3 p.m. at 1200 North Luis Munoz Marin Drive, just south of Division Street in the park, said Officer Bari Lemmon, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Lemmon said.

A death investigation has been launched, Lemmon said, though police believe the man died of a drug overdose.

Eric Shivvers was riding his bike through the park when he saw the commotion. He said two squad cars remained at the park for about two hours before the man was taken to the hospital.
