CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was fatally shot in Greater Grand Crossing Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The man was walking in the 6900 block of South Wabash Avenue at 4 p.m. when an dark-colored SUV drove past and someone inside opened fire, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was struck in his upper body and was brought to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Tannehill said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Gregory Carr, of the same block.

He was a documented gang member, according to police.

No arrests have been made, Tannehill said.
