South Side Shootings Leaves 4 Wounded, Police Say

CHICAGO— Four people were wounded in South Side shootings since Friday, police said. 

In terms of non-fatal shootings early Saturday of note:

At 12:35 a.m., a 23-year man was driving in the 4300 block of South State Street in Fuller Park when someone in a black SUV shot at him, said Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man, who received a graze wound to the wrist, drove himself to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Estrada said. 

In terms of non-fatal Friday shootings of note:

At 7:58 p.m., a 23-year-old man was standing in the 12300 block of South Wentworth Avenue, when someone jumped out of the bushes and shot him, Estrada said. 

The man, who was shot in the stomach, was taken to Advocate Christ Memorial Center, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said. 

At 9:38 a.m., a 38-year-old man was walking in the 9700 block of South Merrill Avenue in Jeffery Manor when he heard shots and felt pain, Estrada said. The man, who was shot in the leg, took himself into Advocate Trinity Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said. 

At 7 a.m., a 33-year-old man was found shot in the leg in the 6200 Block of South Michigan Avenue in Woodlawn, Estrada said. The man, who told police he had been shot in the 8500 block of South Burley Avenue in South Chicago, was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Estrada said. 

The man is a documented gang member, police said. 

No one is in custody for the shootings, Estrada said.
