ENGLEWOOD — A 26-year-old man was shot to death in Englewood Saturday evening, police said.

Around 7:30 p.m., the man was walking in the 7000 block of South Carpenter Avenue when two men emerged from a nearby gangway and shot at him, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his stomach, Alfaro said. He was later pronounced dead.

The man was identified as David L. Easley, of the 14700 block of Beachview Terrace in Evergreen Park, by Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Easley was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m. of a gunshot wound in his back.

No one is in custody, police said.
