EDISON PARK — Residents of the 41st Ward fed up with flooding — or hoping to save a few bucks on their water bill — can request as many as four free rain barrels from the ward office, Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st) said.
In the program's first week, Napolitano said his office received approximately 1,400 requests.
"This is a great program that will help alleviate flooding," Napolitano said. "And if you have a water meter, this could help you save money."
Residents can pick blue, black, terra cotta or warm gray rain barrels as part of the program offered by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and the Emerald Society.
To request a rain barrel, visit chicago41.com or call 773-631-2241.
