BEVERLY — Playful Puppeteers will be the theme of Family Fun Night from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the shopping district near 103rd Street and Longwood Drive.

The Beverly Area Planning Association is behind four such events on Thursdays this summer. The free gatherings include music, food and various themed attractions.

The activities take place in the parking lot of the Beverly Bank branch at 1908 W. 103rd St. The events are weather permitting. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs for lounging.

The Rootin' Tootin' Hoedown last Thursday was attended my more than 100 people and included a children's sing-along as well as local musicians sharing their talents.

Here's a list of all the upcoming events:

• Thursday: The Playful Puppeteers event will showcase the creations of North Beverly puppeteer Jean Vanier, who performs as Jeannie McQueenie.

• June 16: The Bubble Bash will fill the parking with soapy goodness.

• June 23: The Summer Kick-Off Party will wrap up the series by celebrating the 2016 summer solstice that takes place just three days prior.
