CITY HALL — Ald. Emma Mitts (37th) has abruptly dropped her proposal to allow liquor in topless strip clubs.

Mitts said Wednesday she would not be bringing it to the floor during the City Council meeting and that she'd simply let it lapse.

Mitts' original proposal would have allowed full nudity with alcohol sales at strip clubs, but she herself got cold feet and derailed it through a parliamentary procedure a month ago.

Mitts brought it back to her License Committee this week, amending it to allow topless dancing, but requiring thongs, while creating a $75,000 license for strip clubs serving alcohol.

Yet she abruptly reversed field and said she'd not be bringing it back before the City Council for final approval Wednesday.

So city policy remains that strip clubs serving alcohol must make sure that the lower half of female breasts are covered, as are buttocks through the wearing of "hot pants" or the like.
