ASHBURN — Mike Zunica, the athletic director and head baseball coach at St. Rita High School, was inducted Saturday into the Sports Faith Hall of Fame.

The ceremony took place as part of a Mass at the Church of St. Mary in suburban Lake Forest. The award is handed out by Sports Faith International, a Chicago-based group founded in 2008.

The group is dedicated to producing media for Catholic networks, promoting the faith and utilizing sports as "a powerful instrument to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ," according to its website.

Patrick McCaskey, who sits on the board of directors for the Chicago Bears, is chairman of the group. He also served as the host and emcee at Zunica's induction ceremony.

Other inductees on Saturday included former Chicago Bulls player and current broadcaster Bill Wennington, professional golfer Chip Beck and others.

In his 21 years as a head baseball coach at the high school level — the last 20 at St. Rita — Zunica has amassed an overall record of 599-198.
