ANDERSONVILLE — The owners of Pork Shoppe are finally ready to show off their "pig pen."

The long-awaited patio with seating for more than 60 is expected to open next week, said Steven Ford, co-owner of the BBQ restaurant at 5721 N. Clark St.

The outdoor space includes 12 picnic tables — mostly large, but some smaller ones for children — and a lounge area equipped with board games, so customers can hang out, Ford said.

It will also be dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your pooch.

Last April, the 3,700-square-foot upscale barbecue restaurant featuring two dining areas and a semi wrap-around bar opened in the former space of Kingfisher Restaurant, which closed in 2011. The flagship restaurant is located at 2755 W. Belmont Ave. in Avondale.

Pork Shoppe is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
