PORTAGE PARK — A new sculpture of a giant blue chair now soars over Milwaukee Avenue in the Six Corners Shopping District as part of this year’s Chicago Sculpture Exhibit.

"Woah" by Gary Kulak, a bright blue 18-foot-tall steel sculpture, was installed Friday outside the Klee Building near Cicero and Milwaukee avenues near Irving Park Road.

The 42-sculpture exhibit includes Jefferson Park and Portage Park for the third year.

The sculpture was sponsored by the Six Corners Association.

The chair's wavy legs are designed to make viewers rethink their perspective about an everyday piece of furniture, organizers of the exhibit said.

Kulak's sculpture is the second of three sculptures set to be installed this spring in the 45th Ward as part of the exhibit.

In March, "Cubis Largo" by Ron Gard, a stainless steel sculpture, was installed near Milwaukee and Berteau avenues.

A third sculpture — "Quarks VI" by Gary Bellaver — is set to be installed May 20 at Lawrence and Milwaukee avenues, organizers said.

Sculpture lovers can take a free audio tour of all of the sculptures in the exhibit via Otocast and listen to the artists talk about their sculptures, organizers said.
