PORTAGE PARK — Loop-bound Blue Line trains will not stop at the Montrose station starting Tuesday, as crews continue to rebuild the station as part of a massive overhaul of the train line, CTA officials said.
Only O'Hare-bound trains will stop at the Montrose station on the CTA Blue Line through June 7, Chicago Transit Authority officials warned riders.
Trains will continue to stop at Jefferson Park and Irving Park stations, and riders should consider using those stations instead, transit officials said.
A $492 million rehabilitation project is working its way west along the Blue Line.
In addition to modernized stations, the project is designed to slice 10 minutes off a round trip ride between downtown and O'Hare, CTA officials said.
The Montrose station will get a new coat of paint and new lights as well as new benches, shelters and trash bins. The platform's canopy as well as the edges of the walkway and its railing will also be repaired, officials said. Security measures will also be improved, officials said.
