CHICAGO — A 35-year-old man was shot dead in Austin Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Officers found the man unresponsive in an alley at 2:33 p.m. in the 100 block of North Lorel Avenue, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was identified as Willie Jones by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

He had been shot in his head and twice in his back, Lemmon said, and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The man is a documented gang member, according to police.
