CHICAGO — A man and a woman were found shot to death inside their car on the Kennedy Expressway early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 4 a.m., police saw a silver Chevrolet Tahoe stopped in one of the lanes of the northbound expressway near Armitage Avenue, according to Illinois State Police officials. Inside they found both people with gunshot wounds to their heads, and a gun on the driver's side floorboard.

Police identified the victims as Eric L. Taylor, 43, and Camille C. Cooley, 36, both of suburban Waukegan.

All local lanes were shut down to investigate the shooting, but express lanes were left open, police said. All traffic in the northbound local lanes was being diverted off the highway at North Avenue.

All lanes have since been reopened, police said.
