St. Helen's Run, Walk To Benefit School STEM Programs Set For Saturday

HUMBOLDT PARK —  A run in Humboldt Park on Saturday expects over 500 participants and will appeal to "serious runners and families," according to the organizers of the inaugural "STEM Step 5K."

The run will start at 8:30 a.m. in the northwest corner of the park near the sledding hill.  Families who prefer to walk with strollers and pets will start at 8:45 a.m. A "Kids Dash" with three races, 20, 50 and 100 yards, begins at 10:45 a.m.

Entry fees range from $10- $27 and registration is still open. For an extra $8, pancakes and eggs, sausages and coffee will be available from 8 to 11 a.m. 

Proceeds will benefit science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs at St. Helen School, 2347 W. Augusta Blvd.

In addition to the run, there will be a DJ, activity booth, balloon artist and swag bags for runners.

Race sponsors and supporters including Fleet Feet, Dark Matter Coffee, DeLux Bar and Grill, Real Sausage, North Clybourn Group, The Silver Room, First Eagle Bank, State Farm Insurance, Steve and Kates, Canine Crews and more.
