ROGERS PARK — Police are asking Rogers Park business owners to be on the lookout for a man they say broke into a basement early Thursday, according to a Monday community alert.

Just after midnight Thursday morning, The man pried open the rear gate and rear basement door of a multi-unit commercial building in the 6800 block of North Sheridan Road, police said.

A surveillance camera captured the man prying open different storage areas inside the basement and taking what's inside, police said.

Police described the suspect as a black man in his early 20, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and a "light brown complexion."

At the time of the burglary, the man was wearing a white baseball cap, a blue and white plaid bandana, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black leather "motorcycle-style jacket," blue stone-washed jeans and red, white and black classic "Jordan" basketball shoes, police said.
