North Lawndale Shootings Wound 2 People, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings in North Lawndale left a 16-year-old and a 21-year-old wounded on Tuesday, police said.

At 9:22 a.m., the 16-year-old was walking in the 1300 block of South Albany when he heard shots and felt pain, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. The teen realized he'd been shot in the lower part of his right leg.

The teen was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

At 3:12 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the 1300 block of South Lawndale, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was outside when a car drove up and someone got out and shot at him.

The man was hit in his right leg, Sweeney said. No further information was immediately available.

No one was in custody in the shootings.
