JEFFERSON PARK — A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted Thursday evening after being dragged into an alley near Farnsworth Elementary School, police said.
The girl was walking east in the 5500 block of West Balmoral Avenue near Linder Avenue around 5 p.m. Thursday when she was approached from behind by a man, police said.
The man covered the girl's mouth with his hand and forced her into an alley, according to a warning issued Tuesday morning by Chicago Police.
In the alley, the man grabbed the girl's breasts and groin area before she was able to break free from him and flee, police said.
Police said they are looking for a Hispanic or African-American man with a light complexion in connection with the incident. The man was described as being between 20 and 25 years old and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.
In addition, the man has a "shoe horn shaped scar" over his right eyebrow and was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, khaki shorts, running shoes and carried a black cross-body style gym bag, police said.
