Auburn Gresham Shooting Kills Teen, Wounds Another, Police Say

AUBURN GRESHAM — A domestic shooting left an 18-year-old man dead and a 16-year-old boy wounded in Auburn Gresham Monday evening, police said.

The shooting occurred around 6:45 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Emerald Avenue, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 18-year-old was shot in his head, Sweeney said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as Marquel Sharp, of Gary, Ind.

The 16-year-old was also taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed as "stable" with a gunshot wound in his hip.

An investigation is underway, police said.
