UPTOWN — A 35-year-old man was shot to death while riding in car traveling on Lake Shore Drive early Sunday morning, police said.

Around 5 a.m., the car was driving northbound near Montrose Avenue with two other people in it, when another vehicle pulled up next to them and someone shot out of it, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man's car kept driving until the 5000 block of North Lake Shore Drive, where it crashed into a pole, Estrada said.

The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his lower back, police said. He was later pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Keon Lewis. Officials could not identify his home address.

No one is in custody, police said.
