CHATHAM — A 21-year-old man was shot to death in Chatham Sunday morning, police said.

Around 8:45 a.m., the man was shot multiple times in the 7600 block of South Prairie Avenue, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Kourtney Young, of the 6300 block of South King Drive.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, Estrada said, where he was pronounced dead.Marietta Lawson, who's lived on the block since the 1960s, said she was shocked to hear 10 gunshots next to her home as she woke up Sunday morning.

"In all the umpteen years I've lived here, I don't think I've ever seen this happen — not on this block," Lawson said. "It makes me uncomfortable."

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.

No one is in custody, Estrada said.
