AUSTIN — Two men were shot, one fatally, about five hours apart from each other in the Austin neighborhood, police said.

Around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, police discovered a 26-year-old man lying unconscious on the sidewalk in the 400 block of South Cicero Avenue, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Loretto Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said. He had been shot in the shoulder.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Najee Williams, of the 1000 block of North Austin Avenue.

Later, around 3:55 a.m. Sunday, a 27-year-old man was shot in his upper right thigh in the 5400 block of West Thomas Street, Estrada said, citing preliminary reports.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, Estrada said, where his condition stabilized.

No one is in custody, police said.
