THE LOOP — Broken English Taco Pub has opened in the Loop, complete with free tacos for anyone who swings by.
The new taqueria by local restaurateurs Phil Stefani and Adolfo Garcia opened Thursday at 75 E. Lake St. The restaurant serves about 10 different tacos, sold in pairs, except till Saturday they're free.
"You can only charge so much for a hot dog, and it’s the same with tacos," Garcia told DNAinfo Chicago in March. "I don’t want people to get a feeling that we’re trying to fancy up something that’s as simple as the items."
A spokeswoman for the restaurant said the free tacos this week will be shared on an platter hors d'oeuvres-style.
Margaritas are $10 (or $40 for a two-liter pitcher) and beers start with $4 cans of Modelo Especial. Tacos include carne asada (beef), chorizo con huevos (sausage and eggs), al pastor (pork) and tinga de pollo (chicken).
The restaurant also has specials combining $2 tacos with $3 Tecate or $5 margaritas.
