LAKEVIEW — New owners of a long-vacant site in Wrigleyville have new plans for a hostel-hotel hybrid in prime Cubs territory.

Holiday Jones will present plans for its second Chicago location during Wednesday's meeting of Triangle Neighbors.

The Norr Architecture proposal includes 53 private and shared rooms and first-floor retail at 3469-75 N. Clark St. — just two blocks from Wrigley Field and its future hotel.

It took a new owner to jump-start development on the land, where plans for a boutique hotel have been floating around since 2007. Financial difficulties and foreclosures repeatedly stalled the project, with the most recent iteration presented in 2013 as a boutique hotel with 22 rooms and bars on the ground floor and rooftop.

The property changed hands in October, county records show. The new owners will propose a zoning change for the project, which would include two phases that split 3469 and 3473-75 N. Clark St.

Lakeview's master plan has called for more boutique hotels for the last five years, but proposals have failed to take hold. The Addison & Clark project ditched its hotel idea after the Cubs announced their own, and Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) nixed plans for an eight-story LGBT-focused hotel in Boystown in 2013.

If the Holiday Jones hostel is approved, it would be just a couple of blocks south of the Wrigley Field hotel, which will start construction soon after razing the Wrigley McDonald's at 3620 N. Clark St. in March.

Holiday Jones opened its first hostel at 1659 W. Division St. in Wicker Park in 2013. The low-cost hotel attracted "lots of Canadians," European travelers and out-of-town medical students interviewing for their residencies.

The boutique-style hostel offers private rooms with communal bathrooms starting at $87 per night, while beds in shared rooms go for as low as $26.

The Wicker Park location offers free breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking, lockers and daily housekeeping in shared areas.

Holiday Jones also runs the Urban Holiday Lofts, also in Wicker Park.
