JEFFERSON PARK — Artists can submit their projects to organizers of the Figment Festival, which will take place July 16-17 at Wilson Park in Jefferson Park.

Projects can be submitted online through June 17, organizers said.

Figment, which features just about every kind of art imaginable except the kind that hangs on walls or sits in a gallery, drew thousands of visitors to Jefferson Memorial Park in 2014 after it moved from Garfield Park. The festival did not take place in 2015.

The festival is designed to showcase "art that encourages participants to play, dance, sing, create, engage, experiment and explore their environment," according to the festival's website.

Projects submitted for Figment will be judged on whether they are interactive, can withstand the outdoor setting of the festival and can be set up and removed without leaving a trace at the park, organizers said.

The festival is run entirely by volunteers and is free for both artists and attendees.

Founded in New York in 2007, Figment Festivals take place annually across the country.
