LAKEVIEW — It'll be the final curtain call all too soon for Strawdog Theatre's Lakeview location, but audiences have one last chance to catch a show.

Strawdog's final production at 3829 N. Broadway opened on Monday and will play through June 4. "Once In A Lifetime" follows three actors in the 1930s who abandon New York's vaudeville scene for careers in the newfangled film industry. Tickets are $28-$30.

Strawdog is following in the steps of Spritz Burger and other businesses along 3817-45 N. Broadway, which is emptying rapidly to make way for a mixed-use development.

Strawdog, for its part, will move to 1621 W. Howard St. in Rogers Park. The newly constructed Factory Theater touts a 70-seat house and a long history in Rogers Park. The company was founded in 1992 on Loyola Avenue before moving to Avondale in 2004.

Last year, Factory Theater Company returned to Rogers Park, and Strawdog will produce its 2016-17 season there. Evanston is hoping to lure Strawdog to a permanent home across the city border.

Strawdog isn't the only troupe the development displaced. Mary-Arrchie Theatre closed for good after its final production, "American Buffalo," wrapped up in April — more than a month past its initial run.

The building at 3817-45 North Broadway — which stretches from Starbucks to Spritz Burger — will be demolished in June, although historic eagle sculptures on its facade will be preserved. [DNAinfo/Ariel Cheung]

Spritz Burger closed in March, while less well-known businesses like a local dry cleaners have shuttered. Starbucks is the only tenant expected to stick around, moving temporarily into the Lake View Food & Pantry storefront while its corner spot is renovated.

Demolition is expected to begin in June.
