LOGAN SQUARE — A developer who is seeking to build more than 130 apartments near the California Avenue Blue Line stop is taking his proposal to the community.

The proposal to construct a "micro apartment" building in Logan Square has been in the works for more than two years, but has undergone a number of design changes.

The transit-oriented development, six-story development at 2340 N. California Ave. is expected to include 138 apartments, according to Curbed Chicago.

The developer of the project, Savoy Development, originally proposed a 52-unit project for the site in 2014 and that proposal was approved by the city's Plan Commission in March 2015.

The developer presented a 135-unit version of which the developer proposed to a community group in July.

The newest version of the project, which is being called Savoy On The Park, is being presented to the entire community May 10 at Haas Park, 2402 N. Washtenaw Ave. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

The proposal includes a pocket park.

The development will also include a fitness center, a community room and sun deck with fireplaces, BBQ pits and recreational areas, according to the developer's website.

The project that was originally approved was slated to be built on the site of a shuttered car wash, but the developer expanded the proposal after acquiring an adjacent property to the north of the site, California Furniture.

The developer did not respond to requests for comment ahead of the meeting.
