WEST TOWN — A special meeting to talk about a shooting that occurred last month outside of a West Town bar that left a 29-year-old man seriously wounded is scheduled for Monday night, according to an alert from neighborhood group Chicago Grand Neighbors Association.

Set for 6:30 p.m. Monday in the community room in the Goldblatt's Building, 1625 W. Chicago Ave., the meeting was initiated by Edward Gutierrrez, owner of the Output Lounge at 1758 W. Grand Ave., according to Lyn Wolfson, president of the CGNA.

"We requested this meeting with the alderman's help because [Gutierrez] asked how he could address the community on some concerns that he had been hearing about the Output [Lounge] as it related to the shooting," Wolfson said.

Around 1:54 a.m. on April 23, a 29-year-old man got into a fight with someone outside of the bar and was shot in the neck, according to police.

Coincidentally, the neighborhood group has been holding its monthly gatherings inside of the Output Lounge for the past four years.

Wolfson said that Gutierrez does not charge the neighborhood group for use of its back room for the meetings; the CGNA is planning to host its regular monthly meeting on May 18 at the Output Lounge, Wolfson said.

In addition to Gutierrez, Near West Police Commander Ed Kulbida will be at the meeting.  Wolfson said that Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) arranged for Kulbida to attend and that Moreno will be there to talk with residents, too.
