Back Of The Yards Shootings Wound 2 Men, Police Say

BACK OF THE YARDS — Two men were injured in separate shootings in Back of the Yards on Friday, police said.

• At 4:15 p.m., a 25-year-old man was in the 4800 block of South Winchester Avenue when someone walked up, shot at him and ran away, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was hit in his abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital. His condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Sedevic said.

• At 2:25 p.m., a 29-year-old man was in the 5600 block of South May Street when someone shot at him from a car, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman. 

The man shot was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition, Sweeney said.

No other information was available, Sweeney said. 

The shooting took place four blocks away from another shooting last month in which four people were wounded in front of a daycare center where children were sleeping inside

No one was in custody in these shootings.
