UPTOWN — The City of Chicago will bring its 18th annual Chicago Kids and Kites Festival to Cricket Hill in Uptown next month.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7, the city will provide "kites kits for children to build, decorate and fly," near Lake Shore Drive and Montrose Avenue. Other activities will include: face-painting, balloon artists and crafts, according to a news release for the event.

In the afternoon, there will also be a "Big Kite Candy Drop," with "a pinata-like kite filled with candies that drops from the sky," the release said.

Professional kite fliers will demonstrate their skills with oversized and unique kites.
