JEFFERSON PARK — A man tried to lure a girl walking to Prussing Elementary School Wednesday morning into a van, police and school officials said.

The girl was walking in the 4400 block of north Monitor Avenue around 8 a.m. when she noticed two men near a white van. The girl ran away when one man approached her, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.

No one is in custody in connection with the incident, police said.

Principal George Chipain told parents about the incident in an email and recorded message Thursday and urged them to have their children "walk to and from school in groups whenever possible."

Anyone with information about the incident can call 312-744-8261.
