BRIDGEPORT — Jacolik Park is due for a makeover — and the Chicago Park District is looking for help from neighborhood folks to choose a new playground design.

Ald. Patrick D. Thompson (11th) hosted a community meeting at Chicago Helicopter Experience on Tuesday night to present five proposals drawn by prominent playground manufacturers to transform the park at 2731 S. Eleanor St.

The Chicago Park District wants to start work on the park — nearby the forthcoming Eleanor Street Boathouse — in the fall, but park officials would like to have input from neighborhood residents by May 13.

"I want to give ample time for everyone to take a look and see what it is we want to create here," Thompson said.

Renovations will include new mulch, repaired playground walls and new equipment, including swings and slides.

Each playground includes two separate play stations: One for children ages 2-5 and another for kids ages 5-12.

To provide input on the proposals, residents should call the 11th Ward offices at 773-254-6677 or email office@ward11.org.

Here's a look at the proposed designs:

This six-swing playground by Landscape Structures features two slides, monkey bars and a towering climbing system:

This Kompan playlot has a little of everything: Slides, swings and a climber.

Designed by Gametime, this playground adds a unique twist to the play experience: The "Expression Swing," a swing that allows parents to swing with their children.

This Dynamo-designed playground doesn't have many swings, focusing more on climbing ropes and bridges:

Designed by Burke, this playground sports a pirate theme for children with wild imaginations. The swing set features eight swings:
