Chatham Shooting Leaves 16-Year-Old Boy Wounded, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was shot in Chatham Thursday night, according to police.

The boy was in an alley in the 7800 block of South Michigan Avenue at 9:15 p.m. when someone in a blue SUV opened fire, said Officer Ana Pacheco, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

He was struck in his right arm and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, Pacheco said. Police did not have his condition but described the boy as "stable."

The boy is a documented gang member, according to police.
